Carney Announces Robust Measures Against Russia
During the dialogue, Prime Minister Carney announced a suite of new measures designed to strengthen Ukraine’s defence, economy, and resilience. These included a major new sanctions package specifically targeting Russia’s shadow fleet and its energy revenues—key pillars of its wartime financing.
$2 Billion Military Aid Package for Ukraine
In a powerful gesture of military solidarity, Prime Minister Carney pledged an additional $2 billion in new military support to Ukraine, earmarked for critical capabilities such as drones, ammunition, and armoured vehicles, among other strategic assets.
Boosting Ukraine’s Economic Recovery
Complementing this, Carney confirmed the disbursement of a $2.3 billion loan to Ukraine, intended to accelerate the rebuilding of essential infrastructure and public services severely damaged by the war.
